What brand and weight of oil should I use in my 2007 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit? Also, how many quarts does it take?
Is there any other maintenance I should perform when I do the oil change? What brand and weight of oil should I use in my 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750?
Any quality brand of 10W-40 or 5W-50 will do. Change the oil filter at least every other oil change; many do it with every change, but that's more frequent than necessary. I don't know how much oil it will take; probably 3 to 4 quarts with a half quart extra when the oil filter is also changed.
Other things to check are: Hose condition, Coolant level, Brake Fluid level, Battery connections, Brake pad wear, and Windshield washer fluid level. Also periodically check the tires for abnormal as well as normal wearWhat brand and weight of oil should I use in my 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750?

When oil prices rise, is this positive or negative for railroad stocks?
I think it is cheaper to transport goods by rail than road. Maybe the trains are powered by oil, so fuel costs rise, but the railroads become more competitive because it is expensive to run trucks also.
So, what's the answer? Are high oil prices good or bad for railroad stocks. When oil prices rise, is this positive or negative for railroad stocks?
Just correlate railroad and trucking stock charts with that of oil. When oil prices rise, is this positive or negative for railroad stocks?
I think if it were that simple it would be a lot easier to make money in the market.
You need to consider some other factors. As oil prices rise, consumers have less discretionary income, because more of their money goes to fuels for driving and heating (winter is coming!).
In addition, higher oil prices lead to higher costs in manufacturing, especially for petroleum derivatives like plastics.
If consumers have less to spend, and manufacturing goods costs more, is there enough of an off-set gained by shipping by rail? Not sure, the net could still be a loss which leads to less demand for goods in the economy. Ultimately, it might just balance out. That is, manufactures may ship more by rail, but overall production may have fallen enough to off set the increased shipping.
My gut feeling is no, higher oil prices will not lead to better performance in railroad stocks.
Bad. It increases their fuel cost and they may not be able to pass this on to customers, which will eat into profits .

How can I create a nice background on oil paintings?
It seems that no matter what you paint as long as you do a nice background on your painting. Unfortunately, I am not good at combining colors. I am doing a painting but cannot make up my mind about the best background composition for my painting. Can you give me hand on this? How can I create a nice background on oil paintings?
depending on what your picture is that your trying to create the background for you want it to exsentuate the main event in your picture. what i would do is exspirament with different backgrounds first on a small peice of paper than hold them up to your main event and see what one works better for the art peice. but when you work with oil paints you want to do your backgrounds first. just make sure its fully dry before you start your main event. it can end badly if you dontHow can I create a nice background on oil paintings?
You should always experiment and keep practicing with your colors. Let yourself go. Study other painters. Look at what they did. Matisse, david park, elmer Bishop...Look and see how they solved the problem of background.
Meanwhile do this...mix your colors on the pallet add some wax ,medium
not too much then get a painting knife and trowel it on the canvas..very randomly. then scrape it all off and let it dry for several days. Then paint back over it and allow some of the background to show through. It is fun, it leads to seeing shapes, space, and color, and gives great depth to paintings.
enjoy!

I have a bottle of extra virgin olive oil with spices in it .How long can I keep it before it spoils?
I have a botle of extra virgin olive oil with oregano, onion, boukovo and black pepper in it that someone gave me as a souvenir. How long can I keep it before it spoils? I don't plan on opening it, just keeping it on a shelf. Will it every get moldy or smelly and stuff? Or can I keep it forever?I have a bottle of extra virgin olive oil with spices in it .How long can I keep it before it spoils?
Extra virgin olive oil has a long shelf life. Just keep it away from a heat source. Direct heat can mess up oil especially with spices in it.I have a bottle of extra virgin olive oil with spices in it .How long can I keep it before it spoils?
If you have a good seal on the bottle, it'll last a very long time.
Olive oil naturally lasts for a very long time (about 15 months if properly stored). It keeps its natural properties due to the presence of natural antioxidants. Remember that you shouldn鈥檛 keep olive oil in a carafe on the table for very long. [shelf life]
go with Robb In, i agree

What are the basic steps to create an oil painting?
Ok, I got the colours, painting oil, brushes etc, but my first attempt was a bit of a mess! So, how do I start? What are the basic steps to create an oil painting?
Use some mixing agents like linseed oil and paint thinner. Experiment to find the consistecy you like. Minimize your color palette. Try to work with two or three hues plus white for your first few paintings. Make sure you keep your brushes really clean between colors... I like to start with a pencil sketch on the canvas, then I paint in a ';wash'; with a single color diluted with paint thinner. After that dries (doesn't take long when it is diluted), I start in with paint mixed with linseed oil. These are just a few tips from a fellow self-taught oil painter. HAVE FUN!What are the basic steps to create an oil painting?
First you have to prime the canvas or board with Gesso. (Ask your art store about it.) It helps to size the medium and provides a base for the paint you are going to put on it.
Some people like to sketch in pencil on the canvas to help them paint. It gives you a guide to go by, and helps you to visualize what you are going to paint.
Then, mix the colours with the painting oil until you get the consistency you want out of the paint. Some people like toothpaste like thickness, other people prefer a dilute wash. It all boils down to personal prefs.
Then, decide what you want to paint, and stroke away. It helps to start with light colors first, then paint the darker colors.
Hope you have fun, and don't worry about making it look ';right'; A lot of modern art looks like what your first painting will look like, and it sells for big money......
A lesson.
Go to the art store and pick up a book for oil painting for beginners. Its the best way to learn. If you have more $$ to spend, get a video and paint along with the artist. Have fun!

What are the benefits of switching to olive oil?
Someone told me that the oil I am using right now is unhealthy (canola, vegetable). I just wanted to know what are the benefits because olive oil is a lot more expensive. What are the benefits of switching to olive oil?
Olive oil contains a series of compounds that are very beneficial to most functions of the human body and its' biological and therapeutic value is related in many aspects to its chemical structure.
The first aspect is its triglyceride composition, made up of fatty acids. Olive oil has a prevalence of monounsaturates, oleic acid principally, while animal fats are fundamentally made up of saturated fatty acids and seed oils of polyunsaturates.
Monounsaturated fatty acids are much more stable. Olive oil also has a low percentage of polyunsaturates and this is important because these kind of fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body.
The second aspect is in its minor components. The most salient ones are the tocopherols and polyphenols. These components have a major antioxidant function and are closely connected with virgin olive oils because refining processes alter and remove them.
Extra-virgin olive oil is the most digestible of the edible fats and:
it helps to assimilate vitamins A, D and K;
it contains essential acids that cannot be produced by our own
bodies;
it slows down the aging process;
it helps bile, liver and intestinal functions.
More details clicking on the link below...What are the benefits of switching to olive oil?
Olive oil is a good fat, within reason.
It is an excellent source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats that may lower the bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol.
It contains Vitamin E and antioxidants.
It's an good replacement for saturated fats like butter.
It's worth the extra price, but olive oil has essential fatty acids that actually fight bad oil in your body, while regular oil has no benefits and can be potentially fatal to your heart and overall health, especially when it comes to cholesterol.
Try extra virgin olive oil (you'd like that wouldn't you).
none
Olive Oil consists of more monosaturated fats than any other oil. It also contains less Saturated fats and Polysaturated than most other oils.
Without getting all technical, because O.O. has more monosaturated fats (single bonded fats) it's easier for the body to break them down.Birds

What oil do you recommend for a Hyundai Sonata ?
Just got an '07 Sonata today, and want to take as good care of it as possible to make it last the longest. As for future oil changes, what brand of oil should I go with? Hyundai does recommend Quaker State, but I heard that Pennzoil is also very good. What oil do you recommend for a Hyundai Sonata ?
If your are still under your factory warranty, you must change your oil every 3000 miles, or you will void your warranty. With Hyundai's extended powertrain warranty, give them no excuse to not honor any issues that may arise with your engine. As far as what oil to use, Quaker State would be fine. Your oil changes can be done anywhere, as long as you keep a receipt for your service records. Enjoy your Sonata!
Ricart AutoWhat oil do you recommend for a Hyundai Sonata ?
penzoil is good but i would go with moible clean 5000, i swear this stuff is great you can go 5000 miles between changes and its still preety cheap i paid 1195 for 5 quarts. when i changed the oil after 5000 miles it still was pretty clean as well not like alot of oils that if you go 5k on it will be blacker than the crude that it comes from. also use a quality filter as well like a bosch or k%26amp;n oil filter. bosch filter is like 5 buck and the k%26amp;n oil filter is like 12 bucks.
the best luck i've had with conventional oils is Castrol GTX. i get the best gas mileage out of it.
after that the mobile 5000 has been the best i've used.
if you are brilliant, and go to synthetic oils (longer life, better fuel economy), i've had the best luck with Castrol Syntec, followed by Quaker State Q power and Pennsoil platinum. i've had weird results from Amsoil and Royal Purple (they give great result at first that quickly drops off), little change with Mobile 1 (very little improvement in fuel economy) and negative results with Valvoline (fuel economy actually dropped vs conventional oil)

How do I mix/make the gas to oil ratio in my leaf blower?
I just bought a Barracuda SV30 leaf blower from a garage sale and the previous owners told me it takes a 40:1 gas to oil ratio. I don't know exactly how to mix the gas and oil, however. Can anyone tell me? Also, what kind of oil should I use? I think it's a 2-cycle leaf blower, but I'm not entirely sure. How do I mix/make the gas to oil ratio in my leaf blower?
Never use any motor oil like 30W or 10W-30 ';It's to thick and will wreck a 2 cycle fast.';
The oil has to say 2-cycle engine oil. Mix 3.2oz of oil with one gallon gas for a 40-1
Most oil you buy will have a mix chart on it.
A little more oil is better than to little.
If you put way to much oil in it will smoke some and maybe foul a plug but that's about it. If you put to little in after one tank the engine is trash. How do I mix/make the gas to oil ratio in my leaf blower?
Most home improvement stores sell an oil called Pro-Mix. It is a premium 2 cycle oil that will work in any mix ratio. I have never had problems with this and am very satified. You mix it per the directions on the bottle and it can be used in a multitude of engines. I only have to mix and keep one gallon on my shelf. It will work in my snow blower, chain saw, tiller, leaf blower, etc regardless of what the engine calls for. Darrell
The quart bottle of 2 cycle oil should have the mixture proportion on the lable ie. 32:1 ...40:1 etc. ounces per gal. or get the pre-measured bottles that are for one gallon of gas.
go to Lowe's or hd they sell 2-cycle oil it will say 40 to 1 or 50to1 get the 40 to 1 put one gal of gas and the small bottle together and shake a little bit good to go
Its a 2 cycle.They make individual packets/per gallon.

What is the best brand and type of oil for a Suzuki GSXR?
I have a '04 GSXR and using conventional castrol. Are there any benefits if I switched to synthetic? What is the best brand and type of oil for a Suzuki GSXR?
i have personally always used Mobil 1 synthetic in both my 1998 gsxr 750 and 2004 gsxr 600. I think synthetics are much more consistent and more durable oils. They dont tend to thermally break down as much, which means they protect better for longer (typically). What is the best brand and type of oil for a Suzuki GSXR?
I would suggest Amsoil. I've had great experience with their products and even though they are expensive I have never heard a single bad thing about it. But when you're talking about synthetic oil, for the most part, you can't go wrong. DO NOT skimp out on the filter, though. Report Abuse
The best oil is the manufactures oil. Honda-lube for Honda's, Yama-lube for Yamaha's %26amp; Suzuki-lube for Suzuki's. All performance spec. are based on using their oil. They have teams of engineers dedicated to just oil. Now you can put all kinds of other oil in your bike, they are all good lubricants. But the flat out best oil for your bike is gonna be Suzuki-lube. Thats what it was made to use.
synthetic oil does protect your engine better then conventional oil. i like castrol 20:50.
Mobile 1 15/50 with the gold cap..... That's what i've used in my 00' cbr929rr....
if you had read ur owners manual u would no wat they perfer u to use.
I would recommend Repsol 10W40 synthetic. It will keep everything looking brand new and it will run great. Synthetic will run a lot better than conventional oil.

How long is it okay to go between oil changes?
I drive a Honda Element, and I just had the oil changed after about 10,000 miles. I was really worried about going that long, but then I heard that with newer cars, this is ok. Also, is that why the prices for an oil change have gone up so much? How long is it okay to go between oil changes?
Most modern cars require a service every 1 Year or 10,000 or so miles, which ever comes first. Changing every 5,000 miles seems rather excessive for a modern car. The best thing is just to stick to what the service manual states. However check oil level regularly and before any long journey as correct oil level is just as important as changing oil regularly. How long is it okay to go between oil changes?
It depends on the type of driving you do, and the type of oil you used at the last change.
Have a look at http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stori鈥?/a> which addresses the question well.
For normal oil, not synthetic, 3 to 5 thousand miles is the most popular answer. But the real answer is to look at the manual in the glove box, and see what it says about oil changes.
Bottom line: 10,000 is a bit extreme, even for synthetic oils. If you are a normal driver, city and highway driving, don't drive on dusty roads a lot, 5,000 in probably a good guess using non synthetic oils.
As to expense going up, I hadn't noticed that. Ask where you have the oil changed about the costs if you think they are excessive, or even better, learn to change your own oil. It isn't that hard to do.
Your owners manual should give you a guideline and you can do some reserch online. For older cars it's always been suggested to do it at 3K but many professionals say that's not necessary and 5K - 7K is fine for many vehicles (depending on where you are driving).
10K does seem excessive, but then I don't have a really new car (mine is an '02) so I won't say that was a poor choice....just look up oil change frequency with your search engine, or even oil change frequency honda element
Depends on your vehicle and the way you drive it. Older vehicles typically require an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. A new car, like my 2009 Hyundai, can go between 5,000 and 7,500 miles if driven conservatively.
Your vehicle should have it's oil changed every 5,000 miles at most.
10000 miles is insane. 3 to 5000 miles is where it should be. the price being high is due to the increase in price of oil mainly.
Read your owners manual. It has the schedule for varying uses.
i change mine when i notice the engine running harsher, but at 3k miles my oil still has a golden hue to it

Is there a difference between oil used for transmission lubrication and oil used for hydraulics?
I know about the different viscosities, SAE numbers, etc. What I am getting at is whether I can use the same oil in both applications. If the recommended oil for both is SAE10W-30 then can the same oil be used or do they have different properties. I'm not being lazy, I have searched the net to find this info, so I don't want links to Wiki. I'd just like to know please. Is there a difference between oil used for transmission lubrication and oil used for hydraulics?
There is a difference between the two of them to the point that you cannot use one for the other. They may call out the same name but the vicosity and the way the fluids break down are completely different. If I were you I would use the correct fluid for each item. Unless you would like a bigger problem on your hands than you have now... But if you do decide to try let me know your outcome I would like to see what the ';real'; story without the engineering sideIs there a difference between oil used for transmission lubrication and oil used for hydraulics?
The best is to get the factory specifications for your device.
For starters, transmission fluid usually has detergents added to help remove particulate matter from the gear box. Another difference is that hydraulic fluids are engineered to operate at various pressures and temperatures. The final thing is that not all hydraulic fluids are not compatible with the seals present in all hydraulic components, so if the wrong type fluid is used, it may deteriorate the seals and cause leaks.
Yes, you do need all the different oils because they have different weights and viscosity levels. You would not put 30W into a 15W motor because that would kill it.
hydraulics are a completly different animal than motor oils..
*These days they can be one in the same. Go by the detailed information in your specification pages in your manual. Tractor hydraulic (thin low viscosity) fluid is used in farm tractors to run the transmissions, hydraulic systems and the rear end final drives and planetary gears. Hows that for one type of oil. The diesel motors of coarse have entirely different oils for the crankcases. As you know in today's front wheel drive cars automatic transmission fluid circulates through the transmission and the differential ring and pinion. The same light fluid is used in standard transmissions to make them shift easier in cold climates and provide superior lubrication in hot weather.
*
A manual Transmission will use Gear oil or transmission fluid. and an automatic transmission will use Automatic transmission fluid. Gear oil is a very thick type of oil (engine oil is 30 weight and gear oil is 80 weight) that is thrown around inside the transmission when the gears are turning. Automatic transmission fluid is a Hydraulic fluid that is designed to be pumped and it operates several clutches band brakes inside the transmission. These fluids both provide cooling and lubrication to the transmission but are not interchangeable since they are very different in Viscosity and would harm the transmission if they are switched
*You can take the difference with respect to pressure , temperature and viscosity depending upon the application.
*Automatic transmission fluid is specially formulated oil 鈩?containing numerous additives to withstand grueling operating conditions. There are several different types of automatic transmission fluids and should be used according to the recommendation in your car's owner's manual.
*Automatic transmission fluid serves a multitude of purposes. Among other things, it cleans, cools, lubricates, transmits force, transmits pressure, inhibits varnish build-up and protects the transmission on a day-to-day basis.
*The overwhelming majority of transmission failures are heat-related, and automatic transmission fluid breaks down rapidly when subjected to high temperatures. Driving conditions such as trailer towing, quick stops and starts, ascending and descending mountains, and wheel-spinning in slippery conditions are but a few scenarios that can devastate the life of the transmission fluid. Although changing the fluid yourself is not difficult, it's probably best left to a qualified service technician. This is also a good time to drain the transmission fluid from the torque converter, if possible.
*The choice of hydraulic oil to be used requires careful consideration. As a generalisation, the best hydraulic oil is the thinnest that will do the work effectively as this minimises the pressure drops and pipe size/strength.
Where the hydraulic system requires the use of mineral oil, it will be necessary to allow for the change of viscosity that occurs with change of oil temperature (e.g. arctic/tropical).
*The principle task of a hydraulic oil is to transmit power; it also has to lubricate the internal components of pumps and motors within the system. Other important considerations for hydraulic systems will be the ambient temperatures over which they will be required to work and the length and diameter of pipes through which the hydraulic fluid will pass.
ISO 6743/4 鈥楥lassification of hydraulic fluids鈥?identifies no less than 15 different categories for hydraulic oils that are intended to cover every possible type of industrial hydraulic system applicable.
*Low temperature viscosity will need to be low enough to enable the system to be started without creating unacceptably high initial system pressures. At the other extreme, the hydraulic fluid鈥檚 viscosity at the highest working temperature at which it will operate will need to be high enough to provide effective lubrication of the critical moving parts within pumps and motors. Within modern commercial applications, there are a wide range of hydraulic systems which will have varying requirements in respect of hydraulic fluid performance and viscometric characteristics.
The hydraulic oils can be 鈥榤onograde oils鈥?with improved rust oxidation and antiwear properties or 鈥榤ultigrade鈥?which include the additional feature of improved viscosity index. These hydraulic fluids will either meet, or approximate to, the requirements of ISO 6743/4 Code HM or HV hydraulic fluids.
An additional requirement for high V.I. hydraulic fluids which use polymer additives to achieve enhanced V.I. is that the fluid should be shear stable.
For the more critical item of hydraulic equipment, a structured programme for sampling and onboard analysis will be appropriate. No hard and fast rules can be laid down on the required frequency of testing.
Amsoil sell a product that seems to work in 'transmissions and hydraulic equipment'. BP make something called Autran LTF which is a 'fully synthetic multifunctional fluid for automatic and power-shift transmissions. It is also suitable for automotive and industrial hydraulic and power-steering systems'. I think that is the one I will be going with ....
Why is it important to find good focus using 40x objective lens before you go to oil?
What are some serious consequences if you fail to do so?Why is it important to find good focus using 40x objective lens before you go to oil?
You need to position the stage to center your object of interest in the field of view. Then it will still be approximately centered when you switch to the oil objective.
If you first focus with the 40x objective you will be almost in focus when you switch to the oil objective.
You need to use a microscope to properly understand this. Why is it important to find good focus using 40x objective lens before you go to oil?
1. Because you have to be able to find the speciman and get it focused before you put it over.
2. Get it centered and ready.
3. Because you cannot go back to the 40x after you put the oil on because it will contaiminate the lense because it directly touches, instead you have to go back to the 10x and try to find it and than go back.
so you know youve got your sample under the lens and it will only need fine focus when you go to oil, on the other hand if you just put the oil on the sampe and wind the platform right up to the lens you can just lower it slowly until it comes into view
Because the specimen will be a lot clearer and easier to find when you switch to the oil immersion lens.Birds

How do you get someone to drill for oil and gas on your land?
I have land in Coleman County Texas. It is about 200 acres. How do you get someone to drill for oil and gas on your land?
I know nothing about rural Coleman County. Except now, I know it's in TX. The oil companies have a vast staff of geologists; i.e., scientists that look at the lay of the land, what type of rocks are present, and then make a very educated guess as to whether there might be oil under the ground. Sometimes, there's a Jed Clampett who finds oil on his ground and then contacts one of the drilling companies or oil companies, but that is rare and becoming more so. If your neighbors all have wells, though and you don't, you should look into it farther. How do you get someone to drill for oil and gas on your land?
You have a very SMALL chance of getting somebody to drill on your 200 acres because for an oil company to invest the time and money to drill, they need a larger acerage block to ensure that they cover the entire reservior if there is one there and as long as they have been drilling and prosecting in Texas, they are fairly covered every acre that could possibly produce oil.
Prior poster was wrong; oil companies no longer look at surface features or rosk outcropping to determine if oil is present; they now use 3D seismic using basically radio waves to produce a map of underground features in the zones of interest.
The best thing you can do is see if there are producing oil or gas wells around the area of your property and reseach if there was any attempts to drill close to your property before. Some gas fields are on a 1 sqaure mile per wells drainage plan so it maybe possible to get paid mineral interst without them ever setting foot on your land.
I would contact someone that is working in your area with oil and gas and ask them.
About 70 years ago my grandfather could not get anyone to do it so he hired someone to do it at my grandfather's cost. They struck gas and my grandfather got the entire benefit- not just a royalty (but it was a huge and expensive risk).
Im not sure about anything like this, I know my grand father out in Texas had 3 acres or less %26amp; he got them to drill on his land. If it were me, I would just call the drillers %26amp; find out for myself. You never know what could happen now-a-days %26amp; that way you want know forsure.
Maybe they already are. Did you ever hear of 'slant-drilling?'

What causes a Subaru B4 twinturbo engine develop oil problems in the turbo?
i want to purchase one but my friend's has developed such problems requiring engine overhaul. Is it a common problem. his has done 89000km and is regularly serviced. What causes a Subaru B4 twinturbo engine develop oil problems in the turbo?
Inexpensive turbochargers are not pressure lubricated to the turbocharger bearings by the oil pump. Even when they are a common problem Alignment, suspension . When you turn a hot engine off the turbocharger bearings get no oil pressure or oil circulation. A promlem called ';oil coaking'; takes place. The small amount of oil literaly bakes on the bearings because the hot cast iron side of the turbocharger soaks heat eventually causing failure. If he's determined to keep the car the bearings inside the turbo need to be replaced. His only saviour is switching to a full synthetic motor oil of the recommended viscosity. Synthetic oil has the ability to stand much higher temperature before flashing to fire. What causes a Subaru B4 twinturbo engine develop oil problems in the turbo?
If the turbo ain't any better than that, steer clear of car!
I have a turbo Jetta. A lot of times turbo owners do not use Synthetic oil for their engines. This creates a lot of problems in the long run. Synthetic oil will help keep the turbos a little cooler and is less prone to choke the oil lines, since it is a thinner base oil. Remember that turbo engines breaks down oil much more faster than a regular non turbo car. Also make sure if you do buy the car to have a oil cooler installed to help prolong the life of your turbo.
For future reference synthetics will hold up alot better in a turbo car, the heat resistance is outstanding. Amsoil synthetics: http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=14鈥?/a>
Also let the car idle a few minutes before turning it off to allow the turbo to cool.

What is the best method to convert liquid oil to become air particle?
I am doing a study for insets control, use medical oil to convert as air.we are looking for better method other than heat or vibration. What is the best method to convert liquid oil to become air particle?
Use an atomiser - like the spray-nozzle of a spray water bottle, or an air-brush.What is the best method to convert liquid oil to become air particle?
Another option is electrical. Look at some of the mist systems, especially for reptiles. An electrical charge excites the water so that it creates vapor. The problem though comes with delivery. You'd need another device like a fan to expel it quickly from its excitation point.

How can I get baby oil out of my hair?
I had hair extensions and the way to get the glue out is baby oil. I used it but now I can't seem to get the baby oil out of my hair. I have tried several different shampoos but nothing seems to be working. HELP!How can I get baby oil out of my hair?
washing up liquid would work. How can I get baby oil out of my hair?
Neutrogena. The clear stuff. It's a clarifying shampoo that is really strong. I have ZERO doubt that it would do the trick!
PS - DO NOT use Dawn detergent if you have color in your hair! Actually, using it in the first place is completely unnecessary!!
Suave has a clarifying shampoo that is less expensive then most of the top brands. It works to take oils such as baby oil, olive oil, etc. out of hair.
Good luck!
dawn dish soap is the cheapest way. that is what they use to get oil of the animals cause it is a really good at cutting grease like substances out .
Dawn dishwashing liquid - dilute it.
They use it on baby ducks to get oil out of their feathers; it won't harm skin. (Don't use it on a regular basis.)
wash several times
Dawn dish washer soap is great at removing oil. Try that.
use dish soap ( even tho it doesn't smell very good it will still work.. probobly)

When buying a barrel of oil on the stock exchange, where does the physical oil go?
I mean do they send you a barrel of oil to your address? When buying a barrel of oil on the stock exchange, where does the physical oil go?
Well, first you don't buy oil on the stock exchange. You purchase it along with other commodities at a commodity exchange, like the Chicago Board of Trade.
Next, you are not buying a barrel of oil, but what is known as a contract. I believe with oil it is 5 or 10,000 barrels per contract.
Third, you are not buying for today, but for some time in the future, usually 3 to 6 months. That is why they are called futures.
Investors dispose of the futures before the actual call date, but if you wanted to keep the future to call, you would have to designate a storage terminal and arrange shipment from the oil field.
This is actually a simplification of the process. There are a lot of additional variables. Like type of crude (North Sea Brent, West Texas Sweet, etc.).
Most investors are purchasing on margin. That is, they are borrowing money from the exchange while only putting up a relatively small amount of cash. It is very risky. 80% of the people who invest in commodities loose their @ss.
As an example lets say you bought a 5000 barrel contract on West Texas crude and put up $10,000. Every time the price goes up $1 you make $5000. Everytime the price falls $1 you loose $5000. If the price falls more the $2 you will get a margin call from your broker. If you don't come up with the additional money to cover the loss you loose the contract and your $10000 is gone.
It is one investment where you can actually loose more money than you initially invested. When buying a barrel of oil on the stock exchange, where does the physical oil go?
it usually takes 7-10 business days but all the neighbors will want to get in on your oil so its an easy way to make a profit just make sure your there to sign for the package or else the ups truck will leave it there and bam you lose all your money because that old lady with the cats cant get enough of her oil fix and will steal yours. But do remember that when you sell the barrel of oil you have to send it back.
I remember this one time I got a hold of some great Columbian oil so i siphoned it out and replaced it with synthetic, Columbian is the best u can get it has a very pungent smell and a unforgettable after taste. many will agree with me here.

What can I do to help the coming oil crisis?
What's the single best thing I can do to help the oil crisis that is sure to come? Drive less, consume less, throw away less, of course. But what is one thing I can do that will make the biggest difference? What can I do to help the coming oil crisis?

Additionally, I suggest refusing to use over-packaged products that use petroleum derivitives to manufacture...such as
-Plastic and styrofoam packaged meats and produce (find a butcher that wraps meats in paper instead)
-Anything in a styrofoam container.
-Buy fresh produce that is not processed or packaged
-Buy locally-produced products whenever possible.
-Reduce plastic waste as much as possible.
-Recycle whenever possible.
These steps will reduce oil-consumption on the back-end and are less obvious to folks who are concerned about conservation.

How long can a car run on vegetable oil?
On the tv show Mythbusters all they do is fliter the vegetable oil and then put it in the engine. They didn't do anything else to it. I was wondering how long will that work? Will your cars engine break down if you don't mix all the other stuff with it? Could it work if I did that? How long can a car run on vegetable oil?
Any diesel engine will run on veg oil provided it is filtered to under 3 microns. And the only reason for this is to make sure the oil is pure enough not to foul the injectors. In a modern engine it is not recommended to run more than about 20% Vegetable oil because it produces a small amount of nitric acid that over time will eat the injector pump. Its not a problem with an engine that has had a specific conversion to do this. It's basically a kit that replaces the fuel lines and puts a separator in front of the injector pump to siphon off the tiny amount of nitric acid as well as any water that creeps into the system. Bio Diesel has a similar problem But not as much as the strait veg oil. The problem is not with the veg oil, it's with the engines produced today. Older engines used a plating process to line the inside of the injector pump. Newer engines don't use this process because of cost. How long can a car run on vegetable oil?
Are you crazy? The reason that they always warn viewers to ';not try any of this stuff at home'; is that just because it might not be a myth does not mean that it necessarily works. Running a modern gasoline engine on vegetable oil would be an excellent way to destroy any mechanical integrity in a pretty short time period. No wear additives, no ability to change viscosity in reaction to heat. Again I ask, are you crazy? Even motor oil from the dollar store is going to perform better than vegetable oil
a diesel engine will run fine on straight vegetable oil as long as the outside temperature is relatively warm (above 70掳F) As it gets colder, there is a potential for the oil to solidify and clog the works.
do not try it with a gasoline engine.
Mythbusters used a Mercedes Benz diesel car.
First, your car needs to be diesel powered.
Some minor adjustments will be required, but it can run indefinitely on vegetable oil.
as long as the car can heat the veggie oil hot enough, it will run longer than with diesel

What relationship exists between the temperature of the oil and its flow rate?
As oil temperature rises its viscosity decreases (much faster than its density) and this is what causes an increased flow rate. What relationship exists between the temperature of the oil and its flow rate?
Fromula : Flow Velocity
V = (g x h2 - 脫 sin A) / 3 脡
where
V = velocity of the flow
g = coefficient of gravity (9.807 m/s2)
A = is the angle of the slope
h = depth of the flowing liquid
脫 = density of the liquid g/cm3)
脡 = Coefficient of viscosity
Oil becomes less dense as its temprature rises. This results in an overall increase in the flow rate.

What would happen to the world ecnomy if oil was replaced a fuel source?
If someone was able to patent a process to use water as a cheaper and reliable source of energy that could be used in cars and completely make oil obsoleted would happen to the world economy? What would happen to the world ecnomy if oil was replaced a fuel source?
it would continue to run. the dollar wouldnt be used as to buy gas money. middle east would plummet cause thats the only thing they have is oil- the dollar would lose alot of value since dollar is used to trade oil. russia would go in dip since they are inflated by oil currently. Venezuela same as russia. all gas stations would need to be reconfigured to use the new energy. What would happen to the world ecnomy if oil was replaced a fuel source?
Since nothing in our economy happens overnight, I don't think we could expect dramatic changes immediately. No crashing of Wall Street or anything like that. If someone were to develop an alternative source of fuel, the first thing would be that manufacturers would slowly start to turn out products using this new source of fuel. And the design and engineering of new products takes time. At first, these products would be very expensive, so the companies could recoup the expense of developing them, but the price would come down as more and more companies start manufacturing the products.
It's like computers - everyone in the world didn't start using them as soon as they were created. It took decades for us to become as dependent on them as we are now. The same way with using an alternate fuel source. We'll gradually go from using fossil fuels to the new one.

Did people use to think oil is from dead dinosaurs? What is the latest theory on how oil and coal were formed
Is it wrong to refer to oil and coal as fossil fuel if they have nothing to do with dinosaurs? Did geologists think that craters on the moon and earth were dormant volcanoes? Were India and Australia close to each other many millions years ago? If the Indian sub-continent keeps moving north, how tall will Mount Everet get?Did people use to think oil is from dead dinosaurs? What is the latest theory on how oil and coal were formed
no, not from big dinos
hydrocarbons mature from kerogens - these are organic compounds that are classified into 3 primary types, based on the ratio of hydrogen to carbon
type 1 is sourced from algae, bacteria, etc...lipid-rich, prone to mature into liquid hydrocarbon (oil)
type 2 and 3 and beyond are sourced more from plant material, and are prone to producing gas or coal
these kerogen sources mature into produceable hydrocarbon with a combination of 1) heat 2) pressure and 3) timeDid people use to think oil is from dead dinosaurs? What is the latest theory on how oil and coal were formed
I'll answer your first question - you really should put the others in separate questions!
fossils are not just dinosaurs and shells and stuff, they are;
';the mineralized or otherwise preserved remains or traces (such as footprints) of animals, plants, and other organisms.';
Coal and oil are just organic remains that have been heated and compressed. So they are, technically speaking, fossils.
I've always learned that oil is made by organic materials such as plants and animals getting squished together and the heat and pressure oil-ify's them. I never understood it better than that, cuz they taught that to us in fourth grade (i'm in college now) and the teacher was kind of a prat.
But yeah, is that wrong??

Is there a quick way to remove an oil paint stain from a shirt?
Or any way, for that matter? Is there a quick way to remove an oil paint stain from a shirt?
Surprisingly oil base is easier that water base (which is impossible). First try a strong solvent like acetone, nail polish remover (sometimes the same) if not, try paint remover and there are many different types depending on how badly you want this paint out.
Turpentine, kerosene and paint thinner work great the first few hours. But not once it has dried. Is there a quick way to remove an oil paint stain from a shirt?
i dont think so, because we just painted our house and unfortunately paint stain at the end of my shirt, i did use kerosene and try to scrub it, and my husband tried other things no result so what i did i cut my shirt and sew it again.
turpentine.
yes with white spirits, pour a little on cotton wool, and dab , once the stain as been removed rinse straight away in cold water then with your on washing powder or liquid wash by hand rinse well
once oil based paint is on a fabric specially if its made of cotton it wont come off .........you might as well get you a new shirt!
the only thing that might get it out is turpentine, and it may still leave a stain....

How often should i change the transmission oil?
my car is a 98 VW Passat. It's a inline-4, 1.8 L with turbo.How often should i change the transmission oil?
This depends on how you drive your car. A lot of city driving is not only hard on your engine, it is just as hard on your tranny. Heat and stop and go will tear down that fluid faster than nice highway cruising. If you do a lot of city driving, no more than 50,000 miles for a fluid change. Highway miles, you can go 80,000 miles. How often should i change the transmission oil?
if automatic, drain %26amp; fill every 15K and full service every 30K-
best policy if in any extreme condition(hot weather, extreme cold, dirty/dusty ect...
It is a cheap way to extend the life of your transmission--do it once a year and you will see that savings in the long run.
you should probably change it in like 4 or 5 months depending on how you car runs and how often u drive it.if u really want to know check the 2 links.
every 80k miles
some recommend every 30k to 60k miles..check dealership for recommend service
all cars are different, it should say in your manual. usually around 60-75k miles if not more...

What do you do with your fondue oil?
I used olive oil to fondue. It worked great. My husband dipped his meat into BBQ sauce and fondued, while the rest of us just used the plain oil. Anyway, my husband says that you can save the oil and it'll get better and better the more you use it. We dipped beef and chicken. I thought you can only save oil in which you've fried potatoes. What say you? What do you do with your fondue oil?
It will absorb the flavors of the foods that are dipped in it.
It's like reusing bacon grease to cook with (only the bacon grease burns).
Olive oil has a high heat retention, so it won't ';cook'; and it will be better the more you use it.What do you do with your fondue oil?
I would imagine it would be the same as saving deep fry oil. You have to strain it to get any little bits out, put in a container and keep in the fridge. I would use my DF oil for ages that way. The only time I wasn't able to use it again for food was when I made donuts and the spices flavored the oil. But then again I just used it next time I did donuts.
You can reuse any type of oil no matter what you've cooked in it. You're supposed to filter it out and reuse it (but I don't) and you can keep reusing it until it looses flavor and/or starts to smell bad.
My husband is a former employee of Dante's Down the Hatch in Atlanta...a very well known fondue restaurant in Atlanta, GA. I am not sure what exactly they use there but when we do fondue at home he always heats up chicken stock on our stove top and then moves it to the fondue set-up...(Saves the sterno-cans)
Good luck!

Can anything be used instead of penetrating oil to loosen a VERY TIGHT kitchen faucet nut?
I was wondering if WD40 would be OK to use,
Or, would that ruin the seal of the future connection, or something? Can anything be used instead of penetrating oil to loosen a VERY TIGHT kitchen faucet nut?
WD40 probably wouldn't hurt anything but it probably wouldn't do much good either. The usual reason that sink faucet parts are difficult to remove, is corrosion or a buildup of lime in the threads area. Try a bit of Lime Away or CLR, or even just plain old vinegar in as strong a solution as you can find. That may dissolve some of the limescale and allow the piece to unscrew. Can anything be used instead of penetrating oil to loosen a VERY TIGHT kitchen faucet nut?
belive it or not hairspray works well if you cant get it after that contact manufacturer and get new nut then cut old one off factory lifetime warranty
WD-40 is fine. Try tapping it with a hammer, sometimes that breaks up the corrosion or whatever and allows the oil to penetrate.
Wd is fine any oil will work, it will not damage any seals it actually helps them buy preventing dry rot, keeps them lubricated and pliable. Look closely at the thread on the nut, some plumbing fixtures have reverse threads.
put a wrench on it and tap the wrench with a hammer, tap the end farthest away from the nut. make sure the wrench is the right size or you will strip the nut.tap it back and forth to try to break loose any rust or corrosion, and spry it with a lubricant often while tapping.
Wow....that sounds very kinky!

What can I use to paint an oil-filled radiator?
My mother has an electric oil-filled radiator attached to the wall in her downstairs loo. I want to repaint this, but all radiator paints I have found seem to specify that they can only be used with water-filled radiators. Is there any paint available which is suitable for painting an oil-filled radiator? What can I use to paint an oil-filled radiator?
auto stores, ';engine enamel';, heat resistant. What can I use to paint an oil-filled radiator?
Any radiator paint should be ok to be honest. It's heat resistant and it's not like the contents of the radiator (be it water or oil) are going to be in direct contact with the paint. It's sometimes a good idea to use a very light piece of sandpaper to give it a ';key'; for the paint to stick to properly.
If you're still in doubt, it's probably best to contact the manufacturer of the radiator.
Good Luck! x
you can get a special spray paint that is heat resistant specially for radiator all the big DIY shops sell it
Use high temperature spray on enamel made for automotive exhaust systems. You can buy it at any automotive parts house.
you can use paint like hamerite or simply use a spray paint which is teflon based it means the heat will not affect it
Heat resistant enamel paint ... DIY shops
gloss will work as good as any other paint you can buy

What is the difference between natural olive oil that you buy in the beauty supply store and?
the olive oil you buy in the super market to cook? I notice there is a color difference but that is about it. I am looking to make some natural homemade body scrubs and some ingredients call for olive oil, today i was out in the stores and i saw this new kind of olive oil and im asking myself what is different between this one and the one you can buy to cook with? What is the difference between natural olive oil that you buy in the beauty supply store and?

This one is for your hair. Mainly African American hair. It makes it shiny. I wouldn't recommend this for your body. just use baby oil after your shower.

How much longer will it be until oil runs out?
I am very worried at the high demand for oil and the usage of this product in todays society. Can someone estimate how much longer we have of this extremely important product? How much longer will it be until oil runs out?
I have heard that there is enough oil to last another 100 to 200 years at our current usage. With the research into replacement fuels for oil continuing, I would not worry about this. The above time table is if we excavate all oil resources. Considering that there are vast areas of oil off limits in the United States currently this figure could end up lower. How much longer will it be until oil runs out?
How long? That's going to depend on what we do and how we do it. We can push the timeline back by becoming frugal with oil resources and by providing cost-effective alternatives. A lot of questions here. Not that many answers, not yet.
Mitigation and Contingency plans are needed, and in many cases, underway.
I think there are vast reserves yet to be discovered and/or tapped into. There is a possibility that oil may be renewable. See article http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTI鈥?/a> . I am not agreeing or disagreeing with the article but do think it is very interesting. Also, other sources of energy still need to be persued.
According to the Saudi Oil Minister, the peak year for oil production was 2006 and world production has been falling ever since that.
It depends on who you believe. Some say its already running out and will all but be gone by 2020 or so
Others say there is enough to last another 100 years.
not long seeing how many countreis are already starting to run low on oil. probably by 2020 or less..most likely
I hear 200 years but everyone has a different answer

How much do you charge for an oil painting?
A friend of mine asked me to do 2 paintings for his wife for Christmas. I am skilled with a BA in art. I have a realistic style. It takes me over 20 hours to do a painting, but then I think I'm just a slow worker. How much do I ask for?How much do you charge for an oil painting?
Without any samples of your work to check out that would be hard to say. The fact that you have a BA in art should not be considered in the value of a painting. It's the quality of the work you do that determines its' value. For my friends (good friends) i usally charge them 3/4 or half of what a comparable work would go for in my area. If they are friends that i know can afford it, it's always 3/4.How much do you charge for an oil painting?
Depending on the size, I would charge anywhere from $200 to $500 a piece. As artists, we set the price for the stuff we sell. You can charge more if you are in high demand, but when you are starting out, never go too low or else folks will get over on you and you will sell yourself short.
may be $200 onwards its depends on the art
hi :
well the cost of a painting depends on :
1/ the level of every artist painter .( the artists rating )
2/ the size of the oil painting ,
3/the technique ,
but normally there's a stuff artists solution to determine the price of a painting , just e-mail me on this addresse , tbenadada@yahoo.fr and i will send this formula on a world file
calculate in how much time was spent on the painting and the cost of the materials used
I have not done any oil paintings for years. I like watercolors and acrylics better. I use Chinese paints too. I used casein paints for murals. I paint on leather jackets with acrylic leather paints. I charge $3000 for a detailed portrait. I have never seen anyone else do such paintings, for it is quite difficult. For simpler cartoons on kids' jackets, I may charge as little as $200. It depends upon how much time it takes. I would charge the same for oil paintings as for acrylics.

How long does it take for Bio Oil-type products to work on stretch marks?
Using them twice a day.How long does it take for Bio Oil-type products to work on stretch marks?
I know exactly how you feel. Bio oil is a bit overrated in my opinion. I used it for a while and saw some mediocre results. I started using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula for stretch marks and I had better results. The main thing is to keep the skin nice and moisturized and massage in the lotion or oil.
It's taken my stretchmarks about 6-9 months to fade to where they're not too noticeable. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for them and the only thing that makes them fade is time. How long does it take for Bio Oil-type products to work on stretch marks?
Put it on after you have taken a shower or bath use a loofah or sponge in the bath and exfoliate your skin make sure to massage the bio-oil into the skin for 3 mins and in about to be honest 1 year it should be fully faded.
Bio oil didn't work for me either.. I know use Revitols stretch mark cream and am really happy with it. See this website: http://www.revitol-reviews.com/a/revitol鈥?/a>
I've been using Bio Oil and it takes about a year.

How do I soften a wool/acrylic blend blanket that has gone hard after having oil/petrol spilt on it?
I need an Australian product to soften a blanket that has gone hard. Not sure if I need borax, washing soda, epsom salts or any other product. How do I soften a wool/acrylic blend blanket that has gone hard after having oil/petrol spilt on it?
I think you maybe be out of luck. The petrol will work to break down (dissolve) the acrylic, making it stiff like you said. I don't think there is any way to reverse this. If you keep it in a clothes dryer on low heat, maybe that will work the fibers enough to soften them a little. But it probably won't get back to how it was before.
Good luck!

Best way to get rid of used cooking oil?
To be more specific I mean ways to dispose it in the United Kingdom.
After cooking I collect it in a jar. I have no idea what to do with it once the jar is full.
It's not just veg oil, but also fats and other oils.Best way to get rid of used cooking oil?
if you have a dog, put a bit on the kibble, it will make the coat shine!!Best way to get rid of used cooking oil?
You could always take it with you when you have the oil changed in your automobile, they will put it with the used oil they remove from your car!
Or if you are in to natural things, you could make your own soap
(Used oils and fats of any type, strained to remove the debris %26amp; caustic soda) You'll find the complete ';recipe'; in internet
your local petro station will take it
I don't live in the UK, but I usually put my cooking oil in an empty can (one that I've used that I'd normally toss in the trash anyway, such as a tomato sauce can or green bean can or something). Then I stick it in the freezer with the oil in it. It then causes the oil to become more solid and then when the can is full, I throw it in the garbage. That way the oil doesn't leak all over in the trash when I throw it out (like when you initally use it and it's hot), and it's not making more trash, becuase you'd normally throw out the can anyway.
I know near where I live they have a recycling center for used motor oil, but I have never heard of a place for used cooking oil *grins* :-) I think most assume people just throw it in the trash.
I throw it away in a glass jar with a lid or in a plastic coke bottle with a lid after the oil has cooled .
Check to see if anyone near you is making homemade ';bio-diesel';. They would probably be glad to come pick it up regularly.
Feed it to the dogs.... It actually improves their fur when they eat it. It keeps it shiny and soft.
put it in a empty coffee can and toss it.
Donate it to a friend that drives a veggie mobile!
What to do with household oil is a problem. There is a growing industry in collecting used cooking oil from fast food places and restaurants and processing it to make bio-diesel fuel. You can run your car on this stuff and it doesn't produce exhaust with all the noxious fumes and gases that are emitted by traditional fuels. However, that doesn't solve your problem. Check with your local council to find out if they have scheduled trash pickups for things such as used oil. Other than that, you can pour it over old newspapers and burn it in your backyard burner. But that seems very wasteful, doesn't it?

What sites has the best prices for motorcycle oil?
New to the bike scene and i need to change my oil. Just want to know where (websites) i can get the best prices with the most variety of brands at? If you have any brand you recommend, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time!!What sites has the best prices for motorcycle oil?
For most of the orders I go with J%26amp;P Cycles.
Simply because they have a big variety or motorcycle parts and deliver very quickly...
Oil brand?!? I use Mobil full synthetic...What sites has the best prices for motorcycle oil?
I get around the shipping by buying at Walmart or my local motorcycle accessory dealer.
I use Rotella T full synthetic 5w40 in a Shadow VLX and a Magna that's used for commuting.
I like 50W for two-up touring in my road bike and use Amsoil 15w50 ( some owners club members use Rotella T in the same kind of bike)
I put Castrol synthetic blend 20w50 in my daughter's 250 V Star.
I use a Purolator ';Pure One'; filter on the Hondas.
The Rotella T with a Purolator ';Pure One'; filter is considered a good combination.
That's something that I don't see a reason to order online.
The shipping is going to kill any saving you might get.
I use Vavoline conventional Motorcycle specific in my GSX-R1000 and I usually use Amsoil in my Buell since HD oil temperatures are so high and I tend to beat on it. Plus, it only holds two quarts anyway, so $10.00 per quart isn't a big deal.
In reality, there probably isn't any measurable benefit to using synthetic in anything but the most severe use, but old habits die hard.

How often are you supposed to do castor oil packs?
Can anyone tell me what the recommended amount of castor packs is per week? I have the flannel cloth, the castor oil, and the hot water bottle...I just need to know how much to do of it a week. Thanks. Guaranteed 10 points within 2 days of answering. How often are you supposed to do castor oil packs?
http://www.baar.com/castoroilinstruct.ht鈥?/a>
The suggested use of the castor oil pack varied from:
several hours at a time, until relief is obtained; to
continued use according to a cycle, such as three days of use alternated with four days off.
http://curezone.com/cures/castoroil.aspHow often are you supposed to do castor oil packs?
It varies depending on the ailment being treated. I have used them and read Edgar Casey's info about them. Most of the time it seems to be for several days in a row like 3 to 5 days and the time at each session I have read anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Personally I don't seem able to keep up a regime of that so at times when I have been sick and thought a castor oil pack might help me I set one up and did it. I have read testimonials though of people who did packs day after day and ended up curing their ailment.

What is the latest/best technology in extracting oil from oilshale?
So far, I've heard of Raytheon's and Shell's techniques. How many dollars per barrel can the best process yield. We have 2 trillion barrels of oil in Colorado. While I am all for alternative energy and love the environment, I believe our country will enter a crisis in a very few years if we don't find a solution. What is the latest/best technology in extracting oil from oilshale?
I personally think that this company has a good process. Some are trying to do the oil extraction below ground without mining it. The potential problem is that if they get only 50% of the oil, there may never be a way to recover the remaining 50%. In gold mining, there are a number of small operators in Colorado and Arizona who are mining the tailings (scrap after the easy gold is removed) and making money doing it.

There are 6 or so tabs at the top describing the company and its processes. Click on them and learn more. I particularly like the news movie at:

I hope this helps. What is the latest/best technology in extracting oil from oilshale?
You got it, shell has the best and most advanced technique right now. We will never mine it, unless you want to turn colorado, wyoming and utah into a huge open-pit mine. Shell extracts the oil ';in-situ'; with minimal impact to the environment. I see a few problems with this process including the tremendous amount of power this process requires. Large power plants (probably coal) would need to be built to supply power. Additionally, it would take a couple of years after startup before oil is even removed from the shale. I think this may be a viable process one day, but not for at least 20 years. Believe it or not, oil is STILL to cheap.

Where can I find a company that does oil to gas conversion estimates?
Looking to do this sooner than later.Where can I find a company that does oil to gas conversion estimates?
Any HVAC company or Even a good plumbing contractor will be able to help you with this issue.Where can I find a company that does oil to gas conversion estimates?
I assume you mean heating system . . .
If you have a very old furnace, it might be possible, but if you have a ';newer'; furnace (like, less than 75 years old) you don't simply ';convert it';. Too many issues, heat exchanger, flow rate, flu size, etc, etc, etc. You'll have to replace it. Any local HVAC contractor will do it, be prepared for sticker shock
Heating companies can do this. It usually doesn't cost too much to get an estimate and the whole job is worth it.
Try contact Browns Heating and Cooling if you are in the NJ area.
Another company to look for in NJ is Total Comfort Mechanical.

How often do you need to change the oil in a car?
My dad, who bought a new Saab 900 in 1994, claims he's never had to change the oil. I imagine it's been done a few times at services/MOTs, but is this normal? I'd have guessed it's best to change every 6 months? How often do you need to change the oil in a car?
3000 miles or every 3 months..haven't you ever seen a jiffy lube ad????How often do you need to change the oil in a car?
Every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.
I change the oil in mine every 6-7000 miles. Assumming your dad never goes anywhere.. I would still say he's pushing his luck!
I would say every 6mths change oil and filter got to do both at same time car will run very good for a lot of years
U should change the oil every 3000 miles to 4000 miles to be on the safe side.
It depends a lot on what kind of driving you do. The more city driving and stop-and-go traffic, the more often you need to change.
I'd say check every month or every 1,000 miles. If the oil is very dark brown (burnt chocolate) or black, change it. Also check its texture. If it feels gritty, get your car to the shop, pronto.
what your dad says may be true, when he purchased the car it may have come with a life time oil change, he most likely
takes it in every 5000-7500 miles for a change, some of the synthetic oils say you can get up to 15000 between oil changes. hope this answers your question
As often as the manufacturer recommends, depending on the type of use the vehicle gets. Typically for harder driving that would be every 3,000 miles or every 3 months, whichever occurs first.. No, it's not normal and was probably done every time it went in for routine service, since it would void the warranty if it wasn't done.
Depends on your driving,
I'll say every 6000 miles,
but you need to check regular.
Yes your right, 6 months or 6,000 miles is the norm..
not changing oil will cause premature failure of the engine unit as the oil filter becomes clogged and can't filter harmful metal particals away which in turn damaged bearing surfaces etc...ps, when selling the car dont brag about the lack of oil changes!
Every 10,000mi for a petrol engine and about 6000mi for a diesel is standard.
every 3000-5000 miles
Manufacturers recommend every 7500miles for normal driving and every 3000 miles for severe service. Most people's driving habits fall into the second recommendation. But, depending on the oil used, there are other possibilities. For example, I used synthetic oil from day one on a 1997 Dodge Avenger. I changed the oil about once a year. The transmission just went up, but the engine was in great shape. I had 290,000 miles on it.
When ever the light comes on
every 3000 miles. i think.
it should be 3,000 miles or every 3 months, if the car has gone a long time without reg oil chenges, then u should have an oil flush done
every 3,000 miles or every 3 months
Every 6 months or 3000 to 5000 miles, depend on the car. Lexus/toyota do every 5000 miles. Other car companys do 3000. I personally do mine every 3000 miles. Oil is like the blood for your motor. When you run out or when it gets to dirty is when stuff starts to break down and fail
I change it every three thousand miles . I know most if not all manufactures state every five thousand miles I have worked on vehicles both Fleet and Personal vehicles I find that they last longer with more frequent oil changes .
i dont know. i would change oil, it is carbon based. it does breakdown in time. take a guess to what? carbon. try running an engine on that
most manufacturers recommend 3000 mi.or 3 months.however if the cars not driven frequantly or is driven mostly on the highway you could probably go to 4 or 5000.also if u use synthetic oil you can go longer.
5000km(3000 miles) oil and filter conventional oil.5000km(3000miles)filter10 thousand kms. oil and filter synthetic oil.Synthetic oil is great for engines that are broken -in.
Your Dad has been lucky. Saab's will run forever if properly maintained, but they (and other manufactures) have issues with oil sludging which clogs the oil pick up screen, starving the engine of necessary lubrication and ultimately causing engine failure.... It should be changed at or before 5K miles using a quality oil and renew the filter (actually the most important part) at each change.
6 months / 12 months - depends on what mileage you do
every 6 months or every 6000 miles is the best time to change it
I would definitely get it checked on a regular basis of 3-4 months- I learned that the hard way and ruined my engine in the process
Realistically, every 5,000 miles is fine. In recent years, automotive, oil change, and oil supply companies have pushed for every 3,000 - 3,500 miles. If the car is driven infrequently, the oil should be changed every 6 months.

Can I substitute a flavored apple sauce for oil in brownies?
Ok so I am craving brownies and happen to have a box mix on hand. I want to use it up but have NO OIL!!! I have subbed applesauce before but I only have pomegranate-flavored applesauce on hand. Do you think that you would be able to taste that in the brownies? Or do you think I would be ok here? Can I substitute a flavored apple sauce for oil in brownies?
Applesauce is commonly used as a substitute for oil in many recipes to lower fat content. I think it will come out ok. Maybe the pomegranate will give it a nice flavor. Can I substitute a flavored apple sauce for oil in brownies?
You need to know the chemical reaction in the process of baking. Apple sauce and oil have virtually no properties (for the purpose of baking) in common.
Use butter or margarine (same amounts as oil that is called for).
Applesauce will work, but it will make the brownies more cake like. You can use margerine or butter.

I am looking for an online store that carries simmering oil (which is like liquid potpourri) that is comparable to Claire Burkes Christmas Memories. They no longer carry this fragrance in simmering oil and I need it desperately.
