Bars leak smoke away my son have put it on my gas tank of my car is that safe?What would happen if you add Engine oil to a gas tank in a car?
It will make it smoke some. Go ahead and fill up the tank with gasoline to dilute it as much as possible. Just one bottle should not cause any damage, other than a little smoke out the tailpipe.





Update: ssshoebox needs to stick to residential heating and air. One quart of oil in at least 12 gallons of fuel, I'll take those odds anyday versus the price of the repair you suggested. It will take more than one quart to clog a converter. How many vehicles with catalytic converters are driven every day that consume 3 or 4 quarts of oil a month due to engine wear, but with no converter problems? I just work for Ford, I don't design, engineer, make executive decisions for, or bankroll the company. I just repair them, every day, all day. It would do a little smoking out the tail pipe but no damage. Run a tank of high test gas thru it for a couple of days and it should be ok. That is if you did not put more than one or two quarts in a tank that was less than half full.
It will smoke and could cause filters to stop up. I think the Bars leak is suppose to be used inside the engine and not the fuel system (I may be wrong about that). Probably won't cause major problems if it was only once. Good luck !
1st slap your son up side his head. Then turn to your wife and tell her its her fault he turned out this way.LOL.





2nd it will foul out all your spark plugs if you continue to run the vehicle your going to need to replace them.





3rd siphon out all the gas and drop the gas tank and flush it out really well.





4th if you ignore all this and drive it anyway you run the risk of ruining your catalytic converter (HERES A REALLY GOOD THING TO KNOW SOME NEW CARS TODAY HAVE 4 CONVERTERS on these mini vans that could be 1500 dollars alone)
No problem. It's going to smoke a lot till it's all burnt out. Add some Berrymans B-12 Chemtool fuel injector cleaner to the tank after you refill the tank. Get either the one that says ';Complete Fuel System Cleaner'; or the one in the round can. That is one of the very few cleaners that actually clean the plugs while it works. Otherwise you will have to replace the spark plugs because they will be glazed due to the treatment.
