Why does my ear hurt after putting olive oil drops in my ear?

My doctor has prescribed olive oil ear drops to remove excess wax in my ears. I just took my second dose about 30 minutes ago and my affected ear is starting to hurt and feels a bit tight.

Is this normal? I've heard that sometimes this can happen because the wax is expanding in reponse to the ear drops.

Thanks. Why does my ear hurt after putting olive oil drops in my ear?
Thats right. Oil drops r prescribed so that the wax gets soft before it is syringed out. As it gets wet, it expands in size %26amp; since the space in the ear canal is limited, it is a bit painful. Why does my ear hurt after putting olive oil drops in my ear?
It could be that there's an inflammation in your ear drums, however if your doctor has already checked your ears and has ruled this out then rest assured it generally is a normal side effect, especially if there is an excessive amount of wax contained within the ear canal.
Is is pure Olive Oil? A lot of it is just rubbish you know, full of additives and colouring etc. Maybe you're reacting to that
What you heard is correct...but it shouldn't hurt too badly. If it is really bad, go back to the doctor.
